| Vespa Scooter Returns to India |
Italy, we instantly think about CAPPUCINO, PIZZAS, FASHION, COLOSSEUM and Vespa scooter. It was a big launch of Piaggio decades back and had lasting impact on India’s two wheeler lovers. The Vespa scooter is making reappearance in India with its first product LX 125, a retro yet modern ride that drove into the country a few weeks back. It is part of Piaggio’s big plans to enter the market in two wheeler portfolio.
Few days back I got a chance to test ride the Vespa LX125 on the roads of Hyderabad. What better place to test this Cute little Vespa, other than the roads of Hyderabad. First thing need to mention is I was getting stared a lot. So Definitely I can say Vespa is a Road Stunner. I drove the scooter on less crowded roads of Hyderabad, I didn’t feel rattles or shakes and no loss of stability while going through the broken roads and pot holes of Hyderabad city. It is nimble and riding position is quite comfy. Handle bar is quite low and feel of handling the vehicle is not best in its class, Breaks could have been bit sharper. After an hour I observed that engine sound is bit meek and labored but performs well.
Coming to looks part of Vespa it is a Road Stunner. It got its Vintage look with chrome finishing of rear view mirrors and that Vespa vintage badge on the front part of chassis is impressive. There is a hook to pull out hang your shopping stuff and a small storage box with lock. Storage under the seat can accommodate the helmet that you carry.
Price tag of Vespa makes you think twice to own it. Ex-show room price is around 68,000/-. it is 20,000 more than other 125 CC class two wheelers in the market. So I feel this would not be an option for people who are looking for commuter scooter. It is a life style choice.
Finally, Every time when you are out on Vespa you feel like you are on a roman holiday with Italian Flavor and Flair.
