How much content should we put on the first page of webpage (landing page) should it be like a article promoting the book with buy buttons, or should we introduce book on the first page and then direct them to the second page to buy?
There is no maximum limit for the content used on home page or other inner pages. But, all the content should be powerful to persuade the reader to read till end. You have already mentioned, your intention is to sell the stuff; so it the content goes in 80:20 ratios i.e. 80% of all the content should be informative and rest 20% should persuade the readers to buy your stuff. It all depends upon your quality how you write content.
