How do I transfer my blogger blog to wordpress?

There is a plugin that you can install on WordPress to help you easily import posts from other blogs there are so many of them you can do a search and read the reviews to pick the easiest one. Next you need to go to your blogger dashboard and export your blog - go to Settings > Other > Blog Tools > Export Blog.

I do need to warn you that if you have a lot of comments on your Blogger blog, you might end up losing them, especially if you're using the default commenting system from Blogger.

Next just use the plugin you installed on Wordpress to upload the file you exported from Blogger. Be sure to take a look at everything before you make the posts live. Check to see if the images are lined up correctly and so forth.

Before you delete your Blogger blog I would put up a post to tell everyone that you moved to the new location. It's also very important to make sure that your Blogger blog is no longer being crawled by the search engines - go to Settings > Basic > Privacy.

Other than that, you might found images missing and invalid link path. It is advise get a webmaster to trace and redirect those invalid links.

Wordpress.com is starting WordAds program

I just received notification from Wordpress.com that they are starting a program to allow their bloggers to start monetizing on their blogs with a new program they are calling WordAds. This will be run through Federated Media. It will allow a limited number of premium advertisers on each page. You would have to have a personal domain mapped to your Wordpress.com site. People can apply right now, but the program won't be started until sometime early 2012. Federated Media is much smaller than AdSense and includes fewer advertiser categories, but they supposedly pay more per thousand impressions. It will take time to find out how this will all really work out.

That's good to hear though but I wished they started years sooner.  I wonder why they are making the change now? When I was on the wordpress.com site, they were very adamant that you can't monetize your blog. Maybe since more people are leaving them and hosting their own blogs.

Now wordpress is only allowing to have a few Amazon books affiliate links, and we can also sell some ebooks and other products or services.

Does Your Wordpress Blog Make Money?

Who here is making good money from their WordPress blog?  We're all aware by now that WordPress is the easiest way to build a website, but I was wondering how many of you actually make good money? And when I say "good money" I mean enough to enhance your existing lifestyle. I'm not talking about a dollar or two from AdSense per day.

I began to learn that very few of them made a lot of money. I don't think I met one person that was full-time online or even close. And they said it was their goal.

This is a good topic to discuss - I make money on my websites/blog, but it's only about $40 - $50 a month and is 90% Google Adsense. This is what I've built up to over 3 years. Do I spend every waking moment working on my websites? No. So hard work and determination are part of how much one can earn.

Getting there first in Google is another big advantage, especially for topics that become in demand. For instance, Naveen launched his Hindupad blog and it was a relatively uncharted territory for search engines. He got his content ranked and steamrolled followers in. He was at the right place at the right time doing the right thing.

So here's the key points I think to earning money:

* In demand topic.
* Quality content/products for that topic.
* Ability to build a community and relate to others.
* Hard work/determination to build, create, and continuously improve.
* Getting there first in content and search rankings. Google gives big weight to older sights with original content.

If you have a full time job and a family like me, it's going to be difficult to earn a full-time income from a website/blog due to time constraints. It's possible, just very difficult. That doesn't stop me from trying though with different websites and ventures. One day, something is going to "stick".

I do believe it's less about the system you choose and more about how you execute and knowing how to reach your target audience. People who fail with either platform fail not because they chose the wrong platform, but because they struggle with building an effective website that engages their target visitor. And some people don't even set a target visitor. They just write to write while hoping people will just begin following. You really do need a strategy and can't just haphazardly put up a site with no clear focus.

Wordpress - A convenient way of blogging

Using CMS's like WordPress, Drupal, and Joomla etc. can definitely offer convenience to users and avoid building a website from scratch. Plus, they have some wonderful plug-in s, widgets to enhance the functionality and looks of a website. If you are planning to have a blog, then as suggested by everyone here, WordPress can definitely be the thing that you are looking for. It can be setup within 15 minutes, and then it’s up to you how you want to customize it.

We see that most users try to imitate the design, navigation etc. of few of the leading sites that dominate the Industry, and forget to use their own skills. Its less often do we see site owners sticking to the basics and thinking from an end-users perspective.

People are constantly talking about how WordPress is more convenient and easy. Building a site using WordPress can indeed offer a lot of flexibility and allow a user to customize it according to the needs. I completely agree, but I do believe people should spend more time learning how to make their WordPress blogs more navigation-friendly. Not every site needs to have content organized by category and post date. It works for some sites, but others need a more static layout to highlight important content instead of a hodgepodge of posts sorted by date. Many WordPress users have told me they have trouble controlling their content layout.

How to change the blogs title in Wordpress?

It will help you a lot to spend some time exploring and becoming familiar with the dashboard and all of the features of Wordpress.com. It will take a couple of days to learn the basics of how to do things. I also used their tutorials and forums to learn more. Wordpress is very much user friendly and easy to learn.

Go to the dashboard on the left side.

Select "Settings" near the left bottom.

Select "general" at the top of settings.

At the top of your General Settings page, there is a line to type your "Site Title"

Underneath that, there is a line to type your "Site Tagline"

BE SURE TO SAVE CHANGES at the bottom of the page once you are done.

Thats it.
