BCCI and Sahara have had extensive discussions over the past few days and are happy to confirm the following:

BCCI took note of the various requests of Sahara and has agreed to the following:

2. Re-activation of the Auction Purse of Pune Warriors India so that it can take a number of players, subject to the squad composition regulations.

3. BCCI and Sahara agree to start the arbitration proceedings initiated by Sahara through appointment of an arbitrator to address Sahara's claim for a reduction in franchise fee for 74 matches.

4. BCCI does not have any issues with Sahara seeking a strategic partner in the Pune Warriors India franchise, subject to terms of the Franchise Agreement.

6. Sahara has requested for one of the play off matches scheduled to be played in Bengaluru to be played in Pune. The right to host the Play Off matches is awarded to the finalists from previous edition, in this case Royal Challengers Bangalore. BCCI is in principle agreeable to host one of the Play Off in the new Pune stadium subject to the consent of RCB.

7. Sahara has requested to furnish the Bank Guarantee against the Franchisee fee in two installments; BCCI will consider it at the next available opportunity.

8. Notwithstanding the recent working committee decision rejecting 5 foreign players in the playing XI, in consideration of the exceptional circumstance and the non-availability of Mr. Yuvraj Singh, Sahara has offered to obtain the consent of all the franchises for the submission to the BCCI.

BCCI, in line with its normal practice, will continue to engage with all franchises to find ways to enhance the competitiveness of the league and improve the fan experience.

Sahara confirms that it will continue sponsorship of the Indian team. Sahara may want to exercise its right to assign the sponsorship as per the agreement.

Jadeja goes to CSK for $2mn

Wicketkeeper-batsman Brendon McCullum, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, Sri Lankan master batsman Mahela Jayawardene and R Vinay Kumar are star attractions at the IPL auction underway at Bangalore today.

The first major sale of the IPL auction is done and Ravindra Jadeja has been bought by Chennai Super Kings for $ 2 million or Rs 9.72 crore.

There was fierce bidding for the India all-rounder and almost every team pitched in with their bid but it was Chennai and Deccan who bid $2 million dollars — the maximum possible to beat all other comers. So the bid went into the tie-breaker.

Ravindra Jadeja sold to CSK for $2 million

Then Chennai and Deccan had five minutes to decide how much more they want to bid. And Chennai came out winners. We will not know what the amounts of the secret bids were. Jadeja was bought by KTK for 950,000 last year, so this is quite a big push up for the youngsters.

Right after being sold to CSK, Jadeja said he is extremely lucky for having gotten such high bids. “Always wanted to play under dhoni..he is a great captain and always tells me to play my natural game.”

The next highest bid was for Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene, who was sold for $1.4 million to Delhi DareDevils. Muthaih Muralitharan sold for $220,000 dollars to RCB. The auction got a big surprise  just hours before the players’ auction after Sahara India pulled out from the ownership of IPL franchise Pune Warriors as the group has been denied a replacement for injured Yuvraj Singh for the upcoming fifth edition of Indian Premier League.

With Sahara boycotting the IPL league, only eight major franchisees are bidding at the auction at  the ITC Royal Gardenia Hotel in Bangalore.

“The season five of the IPL is coming up with some innovative ideas which will glitter the tournament,” Rajiv Shukla, the chairman and commissioner of the league said before the auction got going.

The auction will see 144 players, including several former Kochi Tuskers Kerala players, go under the hammer. These players, picked according to a combination of their valuation and star worth, will be put up for auction.
